Squeeze Page Mastery - Article Traffic and Exchange Traffic.

By Ragnar | Nov 6, 2008

Recently I set up a squidoo page informing people about how they can build an email list and make money on it. I did this because it would be too long to post it here in one post, however I’ve decided to post it here in several parts. If you want to read the whole thing visit Building an Email list.

Traffic is incredibly important to your squeeze page. No traffic = No subscribers 100% guaranteed.

Articles

A fine and rather popular way of driving traffic to a website is submitting articles, Submit high quality articles to article directories. There are some that would argue that articles are simply a tool for getting backlinks to your blog or website but I think it never hurts to exceed people’s expectations and over deliver with an article that will actually help the readers. Another result of “over delivering” can be a decent number of direct visitors from the article directories themselves. I would recommend building links to a blog as well as the squeeze page because squeeze pages rank badly in Search Engines.

If you blog you can modify your posts slightly and submit them as articles. Again, continue to do this over a period of a few months and you will end up receiving a large increase in the current traffic you are receiving. Sometimes it can be a good idea to submit the articles to a few social bookmarking sites as well, but do not submit it to more than 10 in one day, this can get you removed from search engine results entirely.

Ad exchanges and PPC

Banner or text ad exchanges can be effective if you know how to use them, but there are a few important things you need to know. If it is a program where you pay per click on the banner, your goal should not be getting as many people as possible to your squeeze page, but rather, achieving the best possible conversion rate Visitor -> Subscriber.

It’s the same with PPC advertising, aside from finding keywords where you pay little per click you need to track you results to maximize the conversion rate, if you get 100 PPC visitors a day but only 1 subscriber, you could be paying several dollars for this one subscriber, which is unacceptable. I read somewhere that a PPC ad should be “less interesting” than the page it actually promotes, and I have found that this is a good saying to go by. This means you should make your banner less interesting than your actual squeeze page is. Even if you use a free one it is very important that the banner is on topic. The same with text ad exchanges.

Traffic Exchanges

Despite what some “gurus” say, TEs are not useless. When it comes to buildig an online business or internet marketing related ezine/newsletter or ecourse Traffic Exchanges are not only effective, it is easy and fast to get started, however if you want to build your list effectively with Traffic Exchanges it is required that your squeeze page is extremely good at capturing the visitor’s attention. Once you’re getting a conversion rate of 1% and your subscribers make you over 1$ you can make the entire process incredibly simple by buying credits, which will mean a few clicks get you subscribers and make you money(over a few days).

A key to a successful TE Squeeze page is simplicity, keep it short. Don’t go on and on about the same thing, describe only the absolute top benefits of joining your list. You can offer a free ebook/report or software, but this can result in a very unresponsive list, however if the product you give away is top notch it might help with the responsiveness as well as the conversion rate.

Squeeze Page Mastery - Forum Traffic and Blog Traffic

By Ragnar | Nov 1, 2008

Recently I set up a squidoo page informing people about how they can build an email list and make money on it. The reason I did this is mostly because it would simply be too long to post it here in one post, however I’ve decided to post it here in several parts as well but if you want to read the whole thing visit Building an Email list.

Anyway, here’s the second part.

Traffic is vital for your squeeze page, and even though having any traffic at all is important, targeted traffic is what you really want. There are a few simple and free ways you can drive targeted traffic to your squeeze page, and in this article I will show you two of those and how you can use them effectively.

Forum traffic

First you need to find forums that are worth your time, a good idea is to search for “‘your niche’ forum” or “your niche” forum, and then find the ones that have many active members, if they have many members but 10 active ones, then it’s close to worthless. A way of finding out which one are active is to visit the forum’s main ’sub forum’ and see how many posts and replies were made in the last few days. If there are around 100 replies or more, the forum is worth joining, if it has thousands then it is most definitely worth joining. Join a few of these forums, 2 or 3 is good if there are more that is worth your time you can join them, but it can get very time consuming.

And then simply write a short ad with a link that looks like this in your signature:
[url="http://www.terescue.com"]Free Traffic and List building tips[/url] instead of [url="http://www.terescue.com"]click here[/url] or[url="http://www.terescue.com"]TE Rescue[/url](This is if the forum uses bb code, if it uses html instead just write <a href=”http://yoururl.com”>Your site’s topic</a>. After that just be yourself and be active, focus on helping new and old members with things you have or do not have knowledge about, it can pay off to take some time to research to give a really helpful post, not only will this help establish you as an expert but also will probably get you visits from the ones that are grateful for your help.

Blog Traffic

Ever wondered why internet marketers tend to have at least one blog ?
They blog because search engines love blogs. Making it easier to rank high in search results. Another advantage with having a blog is that you can have the subscription form directly on it.
You do not need to set up your blog on a domain of your own but doing so has several advantages.

To get visitors to your blog, you should post regularly, and also only post high quality content, ping it with for example pingomatic.com and then use social bookmarking services to try to get the word out there. Another thing that can help greatly on your search engine ranking, is to post your posts to article directories, and then put a link to your website in the resource box, use article directories such as ezinearticles.com and articledashboard.com, these are two high quality and well ranked article directories. Of course if you make an effort to make the article good, as you should be doing anyway, then you will probably get a decent number of visitors directly from the articles as well.

Also find other blogs within your niche, and read some posts and comment on them, not only does this usually get you a visit most of the time a backlink that gets listetd, it can also develop into permanent links to your blog as well as posts about your blog.  And of course if it’s in the same niche as the forums, don’t hesitate to put the link to your blog in the signature as well.
If you continue to do this for a few months you should be able to receiive several thousand visitors monthly.

Squeeze Page Mastery Part 1 - Content and Design.

By Ragnar | Oct 30, 2008

Recently I set up a squidoo page informing people about how they can build and email list and make money on it. The reason I did this is mostly because it would simply be too long to post it here in one post, however I’ve decided to post it here in several parts as well but if you want to read the whole thing visit Building an Email list.

Anyway, here’s the first part.

Squeeze pages.

There are many different list building methods, but using a squeeze/splash page or having a subscription form on your website or blog are the basics of many of them.

There are several important details that will affect how your squeeze page performs.

— Traffic
- How targeted it is.
- Amount of traffic.

— Design
- How well designed does it look.
- How does the theme of it fit the topic.

— Content
- How sellable the content is.
- How many possible customers there are.

Method : Squeeze page - Content

Although Content is important, it is not that hard to get the content of a squeeze page done, as it should just contain a few lines of it.

First of all the headline, your headline needs to catch peoples eyes, something that makes them curious, something that surprises them or something unique. All three if possible :P

A few tips on writing the headline is to, read it out loud to yourself and hear if it sounds good, ask people you know in a forum or your friends if it sounds good, track the results (which in a way is the same as asking the total amount of visitors their opinion.)
The key lies in finding several that you think sound good and then ask your friends and visitors which one they like better, if they like any. If you’re hopeless with headlines try telling a friend what the newsletter/ezine/ecourse is about and ask them for suggestions. Follow the same procedure with the sub headline, if there is to be one.

The bullet points should be short, to the point, honest and let the visitors know the benefits. A common mistake when making a list of bullet points is that they only list the features and not the benefits. “- Discover how to build your list fast and free!” and then we have “- Discover how to build your list and start building a huge list of your own completely free!” What they will “discover” is the feature, what that will do for them is the benefit, a simple way of determining what the benefit is, is to ask “so what?” to the feature, also you should keep bullet points to 3 or 5.

Video
Be yourself, don’ try to imitate others, and keep the quality good enough but not overly good so that the visitors will never be able to load the video.

Audio
Be yourself and keep it short, if it sounds good to you and your friends it usually is.

Method : Squeeze page - Design

There are a few squeeze page designs that are rather effective, the traditional bullet point squeeze page, the bullet point squeeze page with audio, and a video squeeze page, a simple page with little other than a headline a video and an option form.

For a simple generator that helps you make a squeeze page for free visit: Instant Squeeze Page Generator If you want a more unique one unless you have a rather good html knowledge or skills with an html editor, and some skills when it comes to general design like header graphics etc. A good idea is to pay someone else to do it, someone you know makes good designs for squeeze pages.

If you want to do it yourself you need to have a basic knowledge of html to even make an ugly one, and for a decent looking squeeze page you need a decent knowledge of it or decent skills with a html editor program. For an excellent one you need to improve it all the time, and although your opinion is important the visitor’s opinion is more important, so you should track the results you get, you can try to set this up in google analytics or search for “tracking” in google for a few tracking services, and by dividing the visitors with the number of subscribers find out if it’s an acceptable conversion rate to you or not, if not then make some small changes and test it to see if it works better.

5 Foolproof Ways to Increase results from your Traffic.

By Ragnar | Oct 23, 2008

There are many mistakes when it comes to internet marketing, some people believe that getting traffic is enough, after they start getting traffic no matter how targeted the site will magically sell any product they promote. Other people believe that having traffic and having content they are satisfied with is enough.

A few of the most common mistakes people make while marketing online:

Not providing quality content.
Not building their list.
Not tracking.
Not personalizing their content.
Trying to “directly sell”.

The fact is, there are millions upon millions of websites out there, even in a targeted niche you probably have thousands, tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of competitors, which means you should only be satisfied after you’re seeing great results from your website, and even try to optimize some more after that.
So here are 5 simple ways for you to improve your results.

1. Always provide good content, people didn’t visit a blog or site to find copy and pasted sales letters about products no matter how related they are to your topic, so make sure your content is high quality and unique. Which means, spend some time on each article or website content, check spelling and how it sounds etc. Or buy it from an article writer that you trust and know can make top notch articles. If you are having trouble with a sales letter, you can pay a professional to do it for you.

2. Always build your list. Make an ecourse, ezine or a newsletter related to the site/blog you own, or one per niche you have sites in. You can make individual lists for each site so you can easily see the number of subscribers they bring in individually, but making indiviudal content if the sites are in the same niche is a lot of unneeded work/money spent.

3. Always track, you can use google analytics or other services, but it is important to track how many visitors you need per sale, also track the affiliate links on your page with services like ProTrackerPlus a free service or the popular Hitsconnect. The reason is simple, you want to know how many visitors you get, and how many clicks you get, and you’re of course aware of how many sales you get. This way you will be able to calculate how many visitors you need per click and how many clicks per affiliate sale, which will allow you to decide if it’s actually worth promoting that particular product. Even if you have your own product, not tracking is a complete no-no, if you track you will be able to see if you should improve your sales letter or one time offer.

4. Put your own personal touch to your content. That can have a very positive effect as it makes it easier for people to “connect” with you, and if you manage to connect with your visitors it increases the chance that they will eventually buy something from you or some of the things you promote, also makes it more likely that they will return to your website. There are a few cases where it will have little, no or negative effect but because you are now tracking you will be able to see if it works for you or if it works or not in a particular niche or on a particular site.

5. Never “directly sell”, if you are trying to sell your visitors something, do not have something that says “Buy product because blablabla” on your site. First talk about the problem that they are either aware or unaware of, very often the visitors are unaware or haven’t completely figured it out yet which is why this is an important step. It is also important that you take your time when writing about the problem. Then offer them the product as the solution, add your own experiences with it(if possible) and some of the features and benefits.

How to build a targeted list with traffic exchanges.

By Ragnar | Oct 19, 2008

Traffic Exchanges, what are they? To put it really simply, Traffic Exchanges are sites that allow you to watch other sites to get your site viewed in return “I visit your site, and then you visit mine”. That means that if you have a website this is a good way to start getting visitors fast. Usually TEs operate with credits, which means that you earn credits for viewing other people’s sites, 0.3-1 per view usually. Then the credits can be spent on banners(ratios up to 100 views per credit), sometimes text links(ratios up to 100 views per credit) or simply visits(1 credit per visit usually).

The thing about traffic exchanges is that the visitors usually stay on your site for a very little amount of time, because they want as many visitors as possible as fast as they can, that means that you have to grab their attention, and fast. Which is why the people that succeed with them all use lead capture or splash pages made for the purpose of generating leads or sign ups in a specific program.

I’m going to go through quickly how you can build your list with traffic exchanges below.

Part 1, It’s all about the splash page.

Okay so the first thing you’ve got to do is, if you’re not promoting an effective splash page on traffic exchanges, delete the sites you are currently promoting from the “Websites” section of all Traffic Exchanges.
You’ve probably heard this a lot of times, to succeed using TEs you need to have a splash page, now I’m not talking about the splash pages or lead-capture pages that follows with a free program where you submit your email and get spammed, nope, I’m talking of you succeeding using your own, unique, splash page. I guess you’ve probably heard that too quite a few times, here is whats different, I tell you how a splash page that works looks like. What makes a successful splash page a successful splash page you might ask?

1. You need to grab your viewer’s attention fast. Why? Because the viewer gives your page 5 seconds before he/she starts looking intently at the timer to earn more credits.Solution: use a short and simple but nevertheless catchy headline.
A few tips on how to do this: Use sound or video, I’m currently not using any but that is because I am in the middle of developing a “speech” to put on my splash page.

Make a large headline that screams out a couple of words that make people read on. I purposefully wrote “TEs are Useless!” To make you read the explanation of why I’m using them, almost anything works as long as it stops the surfer in his tracks. There are two general tactics here, you can either write what people want to hear, like “Grab this free report that will change your life” or what they don’t want to hear “What you are doing is useless” along the lines of that. You can also go for something that’s not quite as controversial as what I did but something attention grabbing like “Hey Traffic Bunnies Surfer!” or “Stop surfing RIGHT NOW!”.

The sub-headline should let them know a little about the benefits to keep them reading/listening to more. If you are confident you can make them interested enough by just putting your name, picture headline, sub-headline and opt-in form on a page, do it and test it, if it doesn’t work or if you don’t have the confidence, read on for suggestions on adding a bit more to entice them on your page.

2. You need the page to be short and to the point, Why? Because who bothers to read 3000 lines of salescopy from someone they don’t even know.. How? Only mention the TOP BENEFITS of the program or newsletter or the membership site you are promoting. Being good at keeping to the basics comes in handy here.

This is Very Important, place your name and face on it, you really want people to see you more and more and more until they feel like they know you and feel more comfortable about the idea of giving you their name and email. Also make sure you not only mention the details of the program/newsletter/ecourse/membership site/report but also what benefits the surfer if he/she signs up.

Add a few bullet points to your splash page, I suggest 3 or 5 as Mike Patzeold has tested it and odd numbers get better conversion rates. Like I said earlier you need to tell the surfers what’s in it for them for every feature of the program. Let’s say your program offers free visitors. “Discover how to get free visitors to your website that will generate more leads and more money.” This is not a very catchy line so do not copy it, but the general idea is the same, list what you offer and why it is good for you.

3. You need your viewers to do what you want them to do. Why? Don’t you want them in your list/downlines/buying your products/etc. ? Solution: Add a link to the webpage you want them to go to, or a form to sign-up for your list.

Having troubles with the splash page part ? Don’t have any programs to make it easier for you to design or don’t know html? Don’t have anything to promote?

You can access the Instant Squeeze Page Generator100% free here, this page actually helps you for free to make decent looking splash/squeeze pages and gives you products to “bribe” your subscribers with, it will even host the page for you.

You should really read Soren Jordansen’s ebook for free if you don’t have a list, and don’t have any idea what stuff you should write about that does good in traffic exchanges.

You can also contact me through this email, If you use webbased mail, my address is Raggy12345678@hotmail.com.

4. Tracking, you need to track and see if there is still room for improvement, to start with you should aim for around a 0.5% conversion rate, and then aim for 1% and above by constantly tracking and improving your splash/squeeze page.

You can get free tracking here at Protrackerplus.
Or a cheap and well known and liked on here at Hitsconnect.

Part 2, Getting quality traffic, to your Quality splash page.

There is plenty of discussion going on about which traffic exchanges to use to build Your list, but from personal experience, these time saving and quality exchanges work for me: Blue-Surf, Ilovehits, S.W.A.T. Traffic, Advertising Know-How, Traffic-Splash, Traffic Bunnies, Dragon-surf and StartXchange.  If you feel like you are already a member of several good traffic exchanges that suits your needs, then there is no need to join my reccomended ones. After that, there is still a few things you have to do before you can start receiving quality traffic to your quality splash page.

Of course, add your splash page as one of your websites in each traffic exchange you are planning to use, setting the auto-assign to a high percentage so that you won’t have to assign credits all the time, and of course, surfing. (No Traffic exchanges are not magical traffic providers that you can “set-and-forget” like some of you believe!) To succeed using Traffic Exchanges, there is one main factor you need: consistency. Cause the longer you keep surfing regularly, the better your results will become.

So a good idea is to create a schedule for when your surfing “duties” will commence, I reccomend surfing a little every day instead of spending an entire day surfing and then take a “week off”. This alows you to check in on your results more often, so that you can make minor edits and check results on a day to day basis instead of perhaps wasting an entire day’s worth of surfing on something that obviously is not gonna work. With that said, just make sure you stick to your schedule once you’ve made it, cause if your site is viewed by the same viewer regularly, in many cases he/she will fall for the temptation of clicking your link or joining your newsletter.

As your goal here is to build your list and make money online, as you start actually getting a conversion rate on your splash page and a sales conversion rate that makes you about 15 or so bucks online per thousand hits you should start buying credits.
